Anatomy of the Perfect PitchLecturer: Mike McShaffry, MrMikeWhat should you prepare before you pitch your game to a publisher? During the pitch, what should you say? More importantly – what should you never say? Mike McShaffry has seen projects die on the vine or get signed and has a great formula for “The Pitch.” The lecture starts by describing what teams should do to prepare, even before they schedule their first meeting. Mike will give you a litmus test for your game concept, talk about researching which publishers you should approach, and how best to rehearse your pitch. Rather than a single meeting resulting in a briefcase stuffed with cash, most developers should prepare for a series of meetings, each acting as a gateway to the decision makers of the company. Mike will give you tried and true tips on who will attend these meetings, what you should expect, and how to the most important meeting of them all – the real pitch meeting. Mike will take you though the pitch, step by step. A carefully crafted and amazingly short PowerPoint is all you need – no more than 10 slides given in less than 30 minutes. Finally, you will learn how to judge your chances of success, and how to handle follow-up. If you want to pitch a game to a top publisher, know what to expect because you only get one chance to make a good first impression. Intended Audience: Prerequisites: Format: Lecture Track: Business/Legal Date/Time: Wednesday, 2:00 PM Room: Salon B
